    A really important part of any public transportation system better serving transport deficient neighborhoods. I wonder what the characteristic of the passengers are? Those who are not time-sensitive? Those who want to reduce carbon emissions? Those who dislike or cannot drive? Perhaps a combination of all three but would be interesting to study.

    Such a pity cargo trams like CarGo is no longer in operation. I didn't even get any chance to see it myself, and driving the Phaeton that was probably the reason why CarGo tram is no longer in service since the car was discontinued

    Did I understand it right, that the roads or places are heated? (in 01:48) How is this realised, please? thanks

    • @EltisOrg
      @EltisOrg 3 года назад

      You are correct in understanding that that certain paved areas of Oulu (and other cities in Finland and other countries, for that matter) are indeed heated. In Oulu specifically, a pedestrian zone named Rotuaari is heated - primarily for the benefit of pedestrians, but cyclists also use this area. The typical mechanism for heating pavements is by running hot water through pipes under the surface.

    You are doing fine in Copenhagen and keep up the good work! But the fact that you call yourself the best biking city is a little bit ignorant. Every single dutch city or village is far better equipped. You are the same level as biking in Germany but with some better add-ons

    • @kailahmann1823
      @kailahmann1823 10 месяцев назад

      The need to build a network "beyond 5 km" also shows another Danish problem: Its really only Copenhagen, while especially the rural infrastructure is far behind the Netherlands or Northern Germany.

    0:06 - Is that a Coewske bicycle? I've been searching for a light-to-medium-weight, cruiser/hybrid bike with a low step-through and upright riding position for an elderly friend of mine, to help encourage her to get out during the day for some fresh air and exercise/recreation. I don't know her previous riding experience; but it's been many, many years since she last rode one (as an adult), if at all... What is the recommended rider height range for those bikes? she is of light-to-medium build and shorter, I'm guessing somewhere between 5'1" and 5'3". Although a single-speed with coaster brakes would probably be easier and more familiar to her, unfortunately she lives in an area with a few inclines (including at both ends of her residential street); and based on my own experiences riding in that neighborhood, a 5 - 8 speed (rear wheel shifter only, to keep things simple) would likely come in handy. Are there ladies' bikes similar to the Huffy Cranbrook's "Perfect Fit™" frame, which will allow for better forward leg extension and a firm footing when stopped; but with a lower step-through? I'm aware of the Biria models; but their pricing is out-of-range. The Cranbrook also has experienced quality control issues (with seats and handlebars that are hard to tighten down securely, which of course could prove disastrous for an older rider challenged by slower reflexes and limited mobility). On another note, I like your approach to cycle training for elders; especially making a variety of bicycles (traditional frames, recumbents, trikes, and other specialty designs) available for them to discover what works best for them. Over in the U.S. unfortunately we don't have access to such programs, unless perhaps near large metropolitan areas with lots of bicycling infrastructure.

    So many buses go through bromley to so many destinations it's crazy that cars still go through there as much as they do, traffic is ALWAYS awful around pm rush hour, with the hopper fare as well it's more cost effective. If you miss your bus they run 10-15 mins apart normally, I find bus easier, or walk
